Davis' Story

Written by: Amy Kathleen

Even though I hardly know him, he's still my cousin. And I care about him, God cares about him, everyone in the room the day of his funeral cares about him. Some people blame Davis for his death, some people blame the man in the vihicle that hit him. Some people even blame themselves for his death, and some people just say it was a accident. I fit in one of those catagories, and I'm not pointing fingers at anyone, it was an accident. It could have happend to anyone. Just imagine if Jessica (his girlfriend) was there with him, could it have been prevented? Maybe, but that's not the point.

The Lord directs our steps, so why try to understand everything along the way? Proverbs 20:24

I believe that this happend for a reason. Maybe it was a lesson that needed to be taught, maybe no one would listen to God's signals before and it was the only way to get our attention. If that's the case it worked. It got everyones attention. Life is changing every minute. Maybe someone you love stopped talking to you and this was God's way of getting you back together. Maybe if was for a family reunion. We haven't had one of those in three years, maybe that was it.

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him. Romans 8:28

Look I know this is a long shot, but you got to hear me out. He knows what He's doing. We don't need to know that right now, but in a couple years from now your going to be looking back and say, "Oh, so that's what He was doing!" You'll be thanking Him like you'd never expect you would.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for my God is with me. Psalms 23:4

Every day, while driving to work, walking to the school bus, even riding your bike (and in Davis's case walking across Highway 95 to the store at 9:30 PM wearing dark clothes) you are always walking towards your death. No matter what.

God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. 2 Corinthians 1:-3-4

Now I understand this may be hard for some people to grasp, and I understand. I don't even understand it all. ("My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts," says the LORD. "And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine." Isaiah 55:8) Holding a grudge can be a heavy weight to carry around and we are humans and can only hold so much. Give it to God. He can carry all the weight of the world.

...forgive one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you. Ephesians 4:32

Say you are holding a grudge against someone and tomorrow they aren't here anymore. Are those the last words you want to have said to that person? Forgive and forget. And when you do this, you will be amazed at how good you feel.

"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." John 16:33
